Is the Canadian Citizenship Test In-Person or Online?
Both. IRCC offers the citizenship test in-person at test centres and online via video call. You don't get to choose — IRCC assigns the format when they schedule your test.
In-Person Format
You go to an IRCC test centre, have your identity verified, and take the test on paper or computer with other applicants.
Online Format
You connect via video call, show ID on camera, and complete the test on screen while monitored by an IRCC official. Learn the details in our guide on how the online test works.
Same Test Either Way
Both formats are 20 questions, 45 minutes, 75% to pass. Prepare the same way: study Discover Canada and take practice tests regularly. Compare formats: online vs in-person.
